Guest Post: Where In the World

Hello you lovely lot! Today we have Abby from with us today for a guest post. We hope you love it as much as we do, please go and check her out after you've read this wonderful post.

It’s that time of year again, most of us have decided where we’d like to go to for a little summer vacayyy! But if like me, you’ve scrolled continuously on Instagram for  inspiration of where to go for an unhealthy amount of hours - mentally spending about 75% of your non-existent lottery win on travelling, you’d probably be able to guess how difficult it is to pick somewhere to take that much needed break. So how can it be done effectively and fairly?

My better half actually came up with this concept, and I thought it was a pretty darn good way, to plan our travels out, give us something to budget to.

So what you need:

List of places you’d like to visit
Scissors (or use your hands to tear bits of paper)

Tear or cut up the paper into the amount of destinations you want to put down, we both wrote down a list of 10 places (20 places all together – this list can be as big or as small as you like) we’d like to go on separate pieces of paper and folded them up, placing them into a bowl (we didn’t show each other what we had written)

We then mixed them up a bit, to give it a fair chance of picking from both sets
Eyes closed, we then took it in turns to pick 5 each out of the bowl (if we both picked the same place, we’d choose an additional piece). This would then determine where we’ll visit over the next 10 years (1 place per year)

So where are we off to?

1.      Italy
6. Japan
2.      Amsterdam
7. Vienna
3.      Barcelona
8. Thailand
4.      Belgium
9. Dublin
5.      New York
10. Canada

Out of the 10, 7 were mine (hey – it was fairly picked), given a number of them are European cities we’ve decided we might be able to do 2 or 3 long weekends over one year, so it might not take as long to complete the list.

We’d recently brought this really cool pin board map of the world from Ebay, which we’ve marked out where we’re going to go.

But this doesn’t have to be used for travelling abroad, it could be adapted of where to take a few day trips, or where to take the kids during the school holidays.

Where’s your dream location?
Have you been to any of the listed destinations – what was it like?

  1. I love this idea, so good if you can't decide between you where to go!
The only place I have been on your list is Dublin, but I have quite a few of them on my own list :)
    Great post!

    Aimsy xoxo
